Hip Hip Array: A suite of games for multiplication
Math is beautiful.
It's patterns and logic are inspiring.
But many students struggle to master core concepts and give up in frustration.
This is a tragedy!
I witnessed this tragedy over and over again as I tutored students in math. It was heartbreaking to see smart, capable students turn their backs on math--just because there was a missing link in their understanding.
Multiplication is one of those missing links.
But I also witnessed triumph and celebration! When students saw the patterns and mastered the concepts, they started to get excited!
I asked myself, how could I help?
What if students could play math games that were both fun and educational?
And what if these games could help students really see the structure and patterns of multiplication?
What if the playing board was the multiplication table itself?
